MOTIVATION STATEMENT
Since I was in Senior High School, I have believed that mathematics is an important factor in a life. All human activities in several fields such as information technology, economics, physics, social and others will run well if they are cited in a good mathematics framework. This circumstance stimulated me to attend faculty of mathematics and natural science. I choose statistics as my specialization even though at this time, there weren’t many people know about statistics and few students choose statistics as their specialization. I saw in several developed countries such as The Netherlands and Belgium, the mathematics degree-holders not only have many opportunities but also were cited as important scholar in their societies.
As a student at XXXX Department faculty of XXX of XXX University, I had numerous opportunities to do many activities. From XXX to XXX I had chances to become a lecturer assistant in mathematics and statistics laboratory. My resposibilities are taught and supervised students in the following subjects; Basic Programming, Computational Statistics, Statistical Methods and XXX.
Besides studying, I was active in the student senate and became the head of research and development division. In XXX I, in a team, became the third winner of Indonesian student research competition. Overall I am pleased with my academic record and I believe that it has prepared me very well for graduate school.
Presently, I work as a XXX for XXX. My responsibilities are teaching, conducting research individually or in a team and etc (mention your responsibilities)…… Working as a statistics lecturer needs deep knowledge of fundamental mathematics and experiences in advanced research of applied statistics. Even though my undergraduate programme has given me a strong background in the fundamentals of various mathematics especially statistics, this is not enough for me to be a professional lecturer. I have to continue my study to enrich my skills and broaden my knowledge.
Currently, our institution which one of the functions is to XXXX to the government of Indonesia, has formulated its Long Term Plan known as the XXX PLAN, which directed toward the establishment of the Integrated National XXX System. This plan is including the development of statistics in various fields such as economy, demography, agriculture, and health. It leads the need of statistician who expert in those fields. Today, there is no Master of Science in XXX in our institution. These circumstances persuade me to apply Master of Science in XXX under XXX Scholarship programme.
Master of Science in XXX is needed in Indonesia because of the following reasons:
- It will improve education in XXX and Indonesia in general, and strenghten the establishment of the Integrated National System
- I will fill the masters of XXX scarcity and strengthen the sustainable development of Indonesia.
Considering all factors above. I believe that the chosen study will benefit Indonesia in general
I consider myself to be a good candidate for XXX Scholarship because I am young, energetic, hardworking, visionary, and motivated person who believes that I can do something for the benefit of my country to whom I have been working. I did my best with all maximum efforts I could give for my institution. But this is not enough. Frankly, I am not satisfied yet with what I did. I believe that I can do much better if I am trained and developed through a master of science in Belgium.

First thing i want to ask you, is Erasmus Mundus scholarship use such a kind of reimbursement fund, especially for international travel? So we shall not receive any amount of money just after we arrive in host University or at least country?
please let me know…! If we are approved for the scholarship, can we ask some of the money to be paid in advance just for airplane fare and any travel cost of our departure to the host country/university?

First, I would like to express my appreciation for this opportunity to apply DAAD Master’s Scholarship for PPGG.
Second, since I was in Elementary School, I really want to study in Germany after I read BJ Habibie’s Biography. After graduated Senior High School, I continued my study while have to work as I lack the necessary funds. Besides that, I was active in the student senate and become the general secretary of Tamansiswa University’s Senate. In 2002, I become The Fourth Winner Kopertis Wilayah X Sumatera Barat – Riau – Jambi student scientific writing competition. My first job is as Customer Service Staff of Garuda Indonesia Branch Padang, an airline company. My responsibilities was served people in reservation, arranged public relation programmes and conducted research about effective communication in reservation and customers satisfaction.
Presently, I work as an Election Technical Data and Programme Staff of KPU Sumatera Barat Province. My duty are making Yearly Operational Budget Programme (Rencana Kerja Anggaran), conducting administration and letters, collecting election technical data and creating Electoral Technical Presentation Paper since I also became assistance of Coordinator Technical Division of KPU (National Election Commissioner) Sumatera Barat Province. As my desired position became KPU General Secretary in Jakarta, I have to continue my study to enrich my skills and broaden my knowledge.
Third, our institution which one of the function is conducting electoral management in Indonesia that still searching for the establish formula to arrange an election. KPU is the newest institution in Indonesia. It leads the need of policy maker who expert in those field. Today, there is no Master of Public Policy in our secretariat. These circumstances persuade me to apply Master Public Policy in Germany under DAAD Master’s Scholarship for PPGG 2010 – 2011 programme.
I consider my self to be a good candidate for Master Public Policy in ESPP because I am young, energetic, hardworking, visionary, and motivated person who believes that I can do something for the benefit of my country to whom I have been working. I did my best with all maximum efforts I could give for my institution. But this is not enough. Frankly, I am not satisfied yet with what I did. I believe that I can do much better if I am trained and developed through a Master of Public Policy in Germany.

Seharusnya surat referensi dibuat oleh sang referee dan diberikan ke kamu dlm amplop tertutup atau dikirimkan langsung ke yg memerlukan. Namun biasanya di Indonesia, kita yang membuatkan kemudian ditanyakan ke refereenya apakah sudah sesuai isinya jika ternyata sudah lsg di ttd.

In addition, knowledge of the art and science of modeling and understanding the results from modeling helps in developing water management policies and strategies. Hydro informatics and water management Masters Program at EURO-AQUAE provides me with an opportunity to better study the basic knowledge and skill to improve the challenges of water in an evolving water and energy market.
While most of my previous academic training has dealt with water, environmental and hydrological engineering, I decided to enroll in the Hydro informatics and water management program because it allows a blending of areas of interest to me. I realize that I can acquire more knowledge and experience in the areas of integrated water management. I expect to achieve this through the Erasmus program, as well as a better sense of their successful use in different countries. My intentions and expectations are to improve my understanding of hydro informatics and water management and to meet great people with similar interests.
In addition I will get a chance through EURO-AQUAE scholarship to interact with students from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds drawn from all over the world. The exposure is important for interaction and integration of diverse ideas and perspectives pertaining to various global issues; for the world is a mosaic of different cultures and a single perspective cannot apply in all these cultures.
Hydro informatics and water management studies include inter-sector water allocation in river basins, productivity of water use efficiency, and multiple uses of water for agriculture and in operation and maintenance of irrigation structures, all of which are now major challenges for many countries. If I get the chance to participate in this program, I will be able to develop the skills and knowledge that must be involved during the design of any water resource structure for sustainable development. I believe the failure of most hydraulic structures and projects has been in part due to the lack of cooperation of other disciplines and the community in all phases. Hence, I believe that my interest and background provide me with solid preparation to study Hydro informatics and water management. I would have the opportunity to become a better manager and engineer working to solve water resource problems in socially, economically, and environmentally sound manners.

I write to indicate my interest to pursue NOHA European Master’s in International Humanitarian Action programme. I got to know about this programme when I was surfing the internet for scholarships. After I made some searches about the programme I actually became excited about it because I found out that it has produced professionals holding positions such as project managers, administrators and researchers in national and international organizations.
Fuseini Moses Naiim is my name. I graduated from University for Development Studies (UDS) in Ghana in 2007 with a BA Integrated Development Studies; Second Class Honours (Upper Division). Currently I am pursuing a Diploma in Education from University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. I was the president of Choggu Peace Club in Tamale in 2006.
After first degree, I worked in different organizations (Kpangmaga Development Aid – a local NGO, president of Choggu Peace Club and National Disaster Management Organization) that are into proving humanitarian assistance. At these jobs, I learnt how to enlighten the masses on how to prevent and or reduce disasters, foster peaceful coexistence, appealing for relief for disaster victims and distribution of relief items to disaster victims. These roles have deeply enriched my knowledge in humanitarian action which I hope to build a career (as a consultant) by further pursuing a Master’s in International Humanitarian Action that will enable me to develop an interdisciplinary understanding and comprehensive analysis of conflict and emergency situations, vulnerable situations, to assess consequences of international intervention and programmes of reconstruction and good use of humanitarian relief techniques from practice and analysis of academic concepts.
After researching European universities and courses offered, I have come to the conclusion that the NOHA programme which is run by the seven principal consortiums of universities is the perfect match for my aims. Among several great features of this course is it being an inter-university, multidisciplinary postgraduate programme that provides high quality academic education based on critical thinking and contemporary paradigms and providing professional competencies for personnel working or intending to work in the area of humanitarian action. This programme indeed has already produced graduates that are playing key roles in addressing complex humanitarian emergencies in every corner around the world.

Actually is reflective but it depends on the person what, when, why he/she wants to appear in his/her motivation statement.
Issues like education background, qualifications, work experiences and nation demands for the course someone wants to pursue for the Masters degree are very important to be inluded in the motivation letter because it assists the offeror for a scholarship to be aware that to award a scholarship to such applicant will be an added advantage to the nation at large.

saya sedang mencari contoh untuk letter of motivations untuk beasiswa S2, kebetulan saya ketemu dengan blog bapak.
Setelah saya baca-baca, ternyata bidang yang ditulis dalam contoh letter of motivation yang Bapak tulis adalah Matematika dan Pak Tio sendiri ternyata berlatar belakang Matematika, kebetulan saya juga mengambil jurusan matematika.
Perkenalkan saya Karisa, mahasiswa tingkat 3 semester 6 jurusan Matematika di institut teknologi bandung. Saya berniat sekali untuk langsung meneruskan S2 ke luar negeri setelah menyelesaikan kuliah saya ini. Saya banyak mendengar bahwa untuk melanjutkan sekolah S2 ke luar negeri dibutuhkan persiapan yang matang, untuk itu sejak semester ini saya sudah mengumpulkan informasi2 mengenai studi ke LN.
Kalau boleh, bapak bisa share pengalamannya dengan saya? Email yang saya gunakan adalah email yang saya pakai untuk komen di post ini.
Saya ingin sekali meneruskan S2 ke luar negeri. Saya ingin segera melanjutkan S2 setelah selesai S1 nanti, apakah mungkin? Untuk informasi, saya tertarik dengan bidang komputasi dan optimasi.
